Free parking is available at the courthouse. No public transportation serves the courthouse, which sits off Route 197 near the Connecticut line.

The Dudley District Court serves the southern Worcester County towns along the I-84 and Route 20 corridors near the Connecticut line, and its docket includes the drug and motor vehicle cases that an interstate corridor produces, often against drivers passing through from out of state. The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office prosecutes here, and because so many of these cases are built on car stops and searches, the constitutional issues are litigated from the first call. Attorney Joe Serpa defends each with the search questions, and the license and record consequences, addressed at the outset.

Communities Served. Charlton, Dudley, Oxford, Southbridge, Sturbridge, and Webster.

Drug Cases and the I-84 Corridor. The interstate corridor feeds drug cases built on car stops and searches, litigated by motion to suppress under Article 14, where the suppression ruling often decides the case.

OUI and Motor Vehicle Cases. The corridor also supplies a steady OUI calendar, defended on the stop and the device records, with the four-day citation rule governing the cases that begin without an arrest.

Domestic Violence Calendar. The court runs its domestic violence and 209A restraining order sessions, defended as one coordinated matter.

The Clerk-Magistrate Session. The court’s summons docket is screened at the show cause hearing under G.L. c. 218, § 35A, where a denial ends the matter with no record.
