Falmouth District Court

The Falmouth District Court serves the Upper Cape, including the Woods Hole ferry corridor to Martha’s Vineyard, and its docket swells each summer with the seasonal cases the beaches and the ferry traffic produce. The Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office prosecutes here, and Attorney Joe Serpa prepares each case, resident or visitor, as a matter to be ended at the earliest stage.

Seasonal and Ferry-Corridor Cases. The Woods Hole ferries and the Upper Cape beaches bring OUI, disorderly, and assault matters, many against visitors bound for the Vineyard or passing through, whose cases can often be handled with counsel appearing so the client does not keep returning; the four-day citation rule governs the cases that begin without an arrest.

Domestic Violence, Drug, and the Clerk Session. The court runs domestic violence and 209A sessions and drug matters, and its clerk-magistrate sessions screen the summons docket, where a denial ends the matter with no record.
