Two paid lots sit near the courthouse and a paid garage adjoins it. Lawrence station on the MBTA Haverhill commuter rail line is about half a mile away, and the Merrimack Valley Regional Transit Authority runs bus service to the area. The courthouse is minutes from I-495 and Route 28.

An arrest, a summons, or a clerk-magistrate notice from the Lawrence District Court puts you into one of the busiest and most heavily prosecuted criminal dockets in Essex County. The Essex County District Attorney’s Office staffs this building for volume: daily arraignment and bail sessions, dense drug and firearms calendars, active domestic violence sessions, and a steady clerk-magistrate schedule.
